The Bruin Rooting Guide: “Who Are You Rooting For?!” – 2019 Week 9

Below is the Week 9 Bruin Rooting Guide. We will rank the games in order of importance to Bruin fans – from least important to most important to game of the week.  We cut down the trees! Now 2-2 in the conference, I have a bit more joy and hope making this as we play an interesting ASU team in the Rose Bowl.

Byes: Cincinnati, Oregon State, Washington

San Diego State @ UNLV

The Aztecs and Bearcats gained bowl eligibility this past Saturday. Aztecs did it in San Jose and now play their 2nd road game of the season in Las Vegas. Aztecs should win this one.

#5 Oklahoma @ Kansas State

The highlight of this game wasn’t when the clock was ticking, but when the horses showed dead leg tipping over the Sooner Schooner. Still, in the interest of the Pac-12 and Oregon, we want OU to lose now and sooner than later. Let’s hope Kansas State can slow down the Hurts train.

#12 Utah vs Cal

Utah humbled ASU making Daniels look a true freshman while Cal lost Modster in a slight upset to the gritty Beavers. Given where both teams are, we could make a case for either team to win. Utah wins keeps the Pac-12 in the top 12 setting up respectable conference Championship. A Cal win evens out the South division race, so this is a game we don’t have strong ties to (yet). However, we still need to beat Utah who already has one conference loss, so we want them to win to keep the Pac-12 chances of making the playoff possible, for now.

#11 Oregon vs Washington St

The top team in the Pac-12 was challenged last week on the road against a formidable Husky squad. Yet, they were able to ome back from being down 14 showing this team has grown since the loss to Auburn. Washington St bounce backed big last week and was the team to quell the Ducks hype last season. We’re rooting for the Ducks to get revenge and cover the two touchdown line Vegas has for this game. Ducks making the playoffs helps the conference, so we have to root for them.

Scouting Game Of The Week: Colorado vs USC

Game Of The Week was really last night (sorry I’m late) on ESPN2 where we watch our talented, but injured chaotic rivals almost lose in the Rockies. This was a perfect set up for a trap game, and while we hoped the Buffs could get it done, Clay was able to pull it out.

GOTW: Stanford vs Arizona

We cut down the trees! After 10 long years, the Bruins didn’t let the Cards get a step closer to evening out the all-time record. Arizona has a USC problem and that showed on Saturday. As Arizona owns the tie-breaker against us, we want them to lose another couple games and pretty soon at that. Let’s hope for the Cards to bounce back here no matter who is starting at QB tomorrow.
